President Zelenskyy thanks Estonia for continued assistance and support during visit to Tallinn
On Thursday, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Tallinn. In press conferences with President Alar Karis and Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and during an address to the Estonian parliament, Zelenskyy underlined how grateful Ukraine is for Estonia’s continued help and support.
President Zelenskyy said that while Ukraine is grateful for military assistance, it also appreciates Estonia’s contribution towards rebuilding Ukraine, such as developing rehabilitation programmes for health care workers treating injured soldiers and civilians. In cooperation with Estonian medical experts and rehabilitation centres, ESTDEV invited 40 Ukrainian health care professionals to Estonia in 2023 for training in modern rehabilitation techniques.
To date, ESTDEV has contributed €10.6 million to Ukraine, of which €6 million went to construction projects such as the Ovruch kindergarten and the reconstruction of the Malyn Bridge. Together with our Estonian partners, ESTDEV implemented nearly 30 projects in support of Ukraine’s fight for freedom.
Supporting Ukraine will remain a priority for Estonia’s development cooperation in 2024.
