ESTDEV to finance five global education initiatives Estonia
This year, the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) will fund five projects focused on global education and raising public awareness about the importance of development cooperation and humanitarian aid.
This year's call for proposals sought activities corresponding to at least one of two areas of activity:
- Activities that support the development of the global citizen competency model, including, but not limited to, designing digital learning materials and e-courses, improving pedagogical practices and creating related curricula.
- Raising awareness of the Estonian public about development cooperation, humanitarian aid, and international cooperation, including activities such as educational programmes, organising an international event or series of events related to the support of development cooperation and humanitarian aid as an instrument of Estonian foreign policy for achieving sustainable development goals and ensuring global security.
According to ESTDEV's Programme Manager for Education, Kristi Kulu, global education is not just about sharing knowledge; it is an exercise in developing empathy, critical thinking and a sense of responsibility.
“It helps people understand how our choices in Estonia affect the world and how global developments shape our future here. At ESTDEV, we see global education as an opportunity to shape a more cohesive and wiser society so that people can meaningfully relate to the world and see Estonia as a reliable and value-based international partner,” said Kristi Kulu.
