Towards Ukraine's Residential Reconstruction: A Capacity-Building and Cooperation Programme for Housing Recovery in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Zhytomyr
Project objectives
The project supports the reconstruction of the regions in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Zhytomyr that were damaged by the destruction of the war in Ukraine, helping to prepare the projects necessary for the financing of the reconstruction of apartment buildings and the development of the management system of those buildings.
Actions and results
As a result, at least 2 model-projects of the renovation process of apartment buildings and the development of model for housing magament will be completed in each project area. In this process, Estonian experience in the reconstruction of apartment buildings and the model of Estonian apartment associations in organizing the cooperative management of apartment buildings will be used. Prepared projects allow Ukrainian municipalities to turn to donors for the necessary support to start reconstruction immediately after the end of the war. To support se cause, a study program for housing experts from the three project areas will be carried out, including a study week in Estonia, and their activities will be supported with the know-how of Estonian and UNECE experts. The direct beneficiaries of the project are the regions and residents of Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Zhytomyr. The project partner is Housing Ukraine and the project cooperates with UNECE projects in the same regions.
