Scaling pre-service teacher education model and enhancing teacher professionalism
Project objectives
The project focuses on strengthening core elements of teacher education by aligning curricula and pedagogical methodologies with Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) principles.
The project further strengthens teacher professionalism through the integration of digital pedagogy and gender-responsive STEM education.
Actions and results
Action line 1: Pre-service teacher training development
- Teacher training higher education institutions demonstrate strengthened institutional capacity to independently design, deliver, and continuously improve CBC-aligned pedagogy, supported by in-house expertise and peer mentoring.
- A foundational institutional capacity and collaborative network for CBC alignment is established, enabling coordinated implementation efforts and sustained regional knowledge exchange.
Action line 2: Enhancing teachers' professionalism (digital skills and gender transformative practices)
- At least 2,000 teachers receive structured training in digital competencies, covering both foundational and applied digital pedagogy skills aligned with CBC requirements.
- At least 100 teachers and teacher trainers are trained through Train-the-Trainer (ToT) programmes in STEM education and gender-transformative pedagogical approaches, enabling them to act as multipliers within their institutions and regions.
- At least 1,000 learners (children) directly benefit from the project through hands-on, practice-based STEM learning activities, delivered by trained teachers as part of teaching practice.
