Within the framework of the project, longer-term processes that reached certain intermediate stages in previous projects will be brought to completion. Firstly, upper secondary level global education elective courses for Estonian schools will be further developed and introduced more broadly. Their dissemination and implementation will be supported through cooperation with subject teacher associations, particularly the networks of geography, biology, history, and civics teachers, with whom Mondo has previously collaborated and with whom cooperation will continue within the framework of this project.

As the project’s main innovation, cross-grade global education learning pathways or “global citizen roadmaps” will be created, serving as practical planning and decision-making tools for teachers and school teams to integrate global education into the curriculum.

Project objectives

The aim of the project is to improve the quality of Global Education and strengthen the coherence of formal and non-formal learning in the Estonian education system through supporting the age-appropriate and consistent development of global citizenship competences in children and young people.

Actions and results

The project will result in the development and implementation of upper secondary global education elective courses, "global citizenship roadmaps" across school levels, and a Whole School Approach methodology that support the systematic integration of Global Education into school practice. Activities include the development of teaching materials, training and study circles for teachers and school teams, and the involvement of young people in the planning and implementation of Global Education Days.

The direct beneficiaries of the project are teachers, school teams, children and young people, and educational institutions, who will receive practical tools and knowledge for the sustainable implementation of Global Education throughout the entire educational path.
