Girls Creating the Future: From Idea to Prototype in Uganda and Kenya

Project objectives
The project brings Vivita's evidence-based prototyping methodology to schools in Kenya and Uganda to increase girls' interest and competencies in STEM and strengthen their cyber hygiene.
Actions and results
Over the course of twenty months, the "Idea to Prototype" programme will be piloted in eight schools, engaging at least 240 lower secondary girls in hands-on workshops. Participants will develop problem-solving skills, a low-fidelity prototyping mindset, and cyber-hygiene and safe digital behaviour skills.
In each school, facilitators will be trained to continue implementing the programme and to train other facilitators through a community of practice. Facilitators will be supported by a week-long study visit to Estonia in the form of a scholarship programme. Partner universities will ensure the quality of the methodology, document lessons learned, and support the dissemination and sustainability of results.
