Strengthening the resilience of Kenya's cybersecurity ecosystem
Project objectives
The project contributes to behavioural change, increased trust in official channels, improved reporting of cyber incidents, and the integration of gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches to cyber hygiene. In the long term, it will help foster safer and more informed online behaviour among users of digital services in Kenya, including women, youth, and vulnerable groups, while supporting the institutionalisation of a national cyber hygiene culture.
Actions and results
As a result of the project, a national gender-sensitive cybersecurity awareness and cyber hygiene strategy will be developed, advancing from a baseline of zero strategies to one approved strategy by 2027. In addition, gender-sensitive online safety awareness activities aligned with international best practices will be implemented, engaging 100 participants in capacity-building activities and reaching 10,000 people through awareness-raising initiatives, both from a baseline of zero.
The project will also establish a cyber hygiene platform designed to improve the online security behaviour of different user groups, advancing from a baseline of zero platforms to one operational platform. The platform will provide self-assessment tools, short learning modules, and personalised feedback, while generating anonymised aggregated data on awareness levels and risk patterns to support evidence-based policymaking.
