Raising public awareness of the role of development cooperation and humanitarian aid in Estonian society, foreign policy, and national security
Project objectives
The project aims to increase public awareness in Estonia of development cooperation and humanitarian aid and their links to Estonia’s foreign policy objectives. It highlights Estonia’s role and success stories in supporting development goals in partner countries and responding to humanitarian crises, as well as the relevance of these activities for Estonia.
Actions and results
The project centres on a nationwide public awareness campaign combining traditional and social media. In cooperation with Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR), a themed documentary film month will be broadcast on ETV2 and ETV+, complemented by public-space video campaigns and community discussions, with a particular focus on reaching groups with lower levels of awareness, including rural and Russian-speaking audiences.
The project also supports journalists and journalism students through training and research grants, strengthening fact-based reporting and public debate on development cooperation and humanitarian aid.
