The project contributes to the development of the target countries, supports the development of democracy and contributes to the growth of stability in the region, as the planned events will focus on strengthening the competences in which Estonia, according to the DESI 2023 report, is at the forefront among the EU Member States (e-governance - Digital Public Services Dimension).

The relevance and necessity of the project is also proven by the Digital Economy Blueprint of the Government of Kenya, prepared under the auspices of Smart Africa, which emphasises the need for digital services and platforms and the importance of developing digital skills and values.

Project objectives

The main aim of the project is to support the democratic and economic development of African countries through raising digital skills and e-governance competences as well as overall awareness of the benefits of digitalization of the target groups.

Actions and results

To reach that goal, altogether 2 digitization-themed side events will be organized at international conferences (Transform Africa Summits 2024 and 2025). The sub-goal of the project is matchmaking between ICT sector companies in Estonia and the target countries in order to create opportunities for future cooperation projects in the target countries. The direct beneficiaries of the project are representatives of government agencies responsible for ICT development in the target countries and the companies of the target countries who are implementing ICT projects in the target countries.

As a result of the project, participants in the target countries will gain practical experience on how the application of ICT technologies can help to reform public administration and public services, how to implement open government principles and how to carry out legal reforms that support digital solutions.
