Global Education Olympiad
Project objectives
The aim of the project is to organise a Global Education Olympiad for lower secondary school students (Grades 8–9) in April 2026. This competition will be the first of its kind in Estonia. In the 2026/2027 academic year, we also plan to introduce an Olympiad for upper secondary school students.
Actions and results
We expect to have at least 50 participants in 2026 and 100 final round participants in 2027. The project will be led by teachers in collaboration with experts in the field. Key activities include developing Olympiad tasks, onboarding schools and partners, organising outreach seminars, conducting the preliminary and final rounds of the Olympiad, and hosting a global education seminar for teachers. The primary target group and beneficiaries are students in grades 8–12 across Estonia and their teachers.
The Olympiad is designed as a repeatable and scalable model, with the long-term aim of increasing access to global competence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among Estonian lower and upper secondary school students.
