Accessible, high-quality education in contact and online, up-to-date and motivated teachers and informed young people are key components of a resilient and open society. The emergence, spread and consolidation of such a society is a prerequisite for full Europeanisation. CONNECT4MORE focuses on two specific needs related to Moldova’s EU accession and the modernisation of higher education:

  1. Increased integration of digital and inclusive pedagogical approaches into curriculum development and ensuring continuous professional development of teachers in Moldovan higher education institutions.
  2. Promoting EU-related teaching and learning among Moldovan youth, developing their intercultural competences and transferable skills through joint learning programmes with European students

The project builds on previous cooperation projects between the University of Tartu (UT) and the National University of Moldova (MSU) (BEst4ME and EST4MORE), expanding activities to new areas and target groups in order to maintain and consolidate previous results.

Project objectives

The project objectives are:

1) To support the digital transformation process of Moldovan higher education institutions by equipping them with innovative methodologies, including the development of more flexible and inclusive learning opportunities, such as MOOCs (massive open online courses);

2) To support the continuous professional development process of teachers in the field of digital skills development;

3) To increase students’ knowledge and interest in European studies in order to motivate them to raise their awareness of democracy and acquire applicable knowledge and skills, preparing them for future EU-related careers or public sector jobs that advance Moldova’s Europeanization process;

4) To connect Moldovan and Estonian students by offering them a common learning experience that will enhance intercultural understanding between both groups and help raise awareness of the EU enlargement process and its role in creating a more secure, resilient and democratic Europe.

Actions and results

As a result of the project, MSU faculty members will benefit from both online and on-site teacher training focused on the integration and development of innovative teaching methods, such as online courses (MOOCs). This will help them expand their portfolio of modern pedagogical approaches and innovative digital educational techniques offered at Moldovan universities. In addition, the project will support MSU faculty members in integrating the entire training program materials onto their website.
