To organize two (2x40 children) five-day children's camps in the period 10.08.-26.08.2024, targeting Ukrainian children aged 12-17 years. The target group of the camps are children whose parents work in the field of internal security in Ukraine (police officers, border guards, etc.) and who have lost a parent in the war or one of parents is a prisoner of war in Russia. Ukraine approached Estonia with a request to organize the camps for kids.  Children are brought to the Estonian summer camp to be away from the war situation, to rest and relieve tension in a safe environment, to de-stress from the war. The camp will include age-appropriate workshops, visits to Tartu (e.g. the Ahhaa Centre), Tallinn and Rakvere, as well as a variety of activities that can be organized in or near the camp venue (Väike-Maarja). The main objective of the camp is humanitarian. ESTDEV's partner in running the camps is the Estonian Academy of Defence. The camps will be carried out in accordance with Estonian regulations. Depending on the needs of the group of children, experts providing psychological support will be involved to advise on the implementation of the programme.

  • A study day at the training ground of the Estonian Academy of Defence, workshops and games, as a result of which young people from Ukraine with different backgrounds and geographies have achieved results in the development of cooperative and teamwork skills and creativity, and broadened their horizons through interaction with young people of their own age in Estonia.
