Estonia joins Team Europe initiative to ease Ukraine’s integration into the EU single market
Today in Gdańsk, on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference, the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) officially joined the STEP IN 2 EU programme to support Ukraine’s integration into the European Union's single market.
"Ukraine's accession to the European Union requires practical support, strong institutions and effective partnerships from Estonia and other member states. For ESTDEV, it is important to contribute to strengthening Ukraine's economy and to share Estonia's experience in implementing reforms and adapting to the European Union's legal framework," said Andrea Kivi, ESTDEV’s executive director.
The STEP IN 2 EU programme focuses on strengthening Ukraine's economic resilience by developing its economic policy framework and facilitating the integration of Ukrainian businesses into the EU market. The initiative supports Ukraine's preparations for EU membership and contributes to sustainable economic growth. Estonia will contribute both financial resources and expert knowledge to the programme.
Lithuania joined Estonia in signing the declaration and current members, Germany and Norway, announced an increase in their financial contributions.
STEP IN 2 EU is an international cooperation programme aimed at supporting the development of Ukraine's economic policy, strengthening the business environment and improving Ukrainian companies' access to the EU single market. The programme is implemented through cooperation between partner organisations from Germany, the European Union, Norway, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Estonia.
