Eastern Partnership: Strengthening Democratic Processes, the Rule of Law, and Good Governance

Period: 01.04.2018–31.12.2022

Countries: Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan

Description: The purpose of this project is to build the capacity of the European Union’s Eastern Partner (EP) countries to allow reforms that strengthen democratic processes, establish the rule of law, and enable good governance to take place. Guidance and recommendations are offered based on Estonian know-how and best practice. The focus of the project is primarily on establishing systematic cooperation between authorities on both the local and central levels, as well as between authorities and civil society organisations. The EP countries consider Estonia’s experience of European transition through reforms and the creation of a strong democratic society to be trustworthy, relevant, and of high value. This project enables ESTDEV to efficiently and effectively offer needs-based and targeted support to EP countries by engaging relevant experts from Estonian ministries, local and central authorities, and civil society organizations.
