Project objectives
The goal of the project is to develop democratic urban planning methodologies through the format of urban forums, which have proven themselves in Estonia over the years.
Actions and results
The Association of Estonian Architects organizes four urban forums in Ukraine. Two of them will take place this fall in Zhytomyr, the next two will take place in the springsummer of 2025.
To introduce and teach the format of urban forums and promote cooperation between Estonian and Ukrainian spatial specialists through practical experience. After the forums, Ukrainian municipalities have acquired the methodology of urban forums and are able to use it in their work in the future.
Local governments of Ukraine will directly benefit from the project, among them the target municipality Zhytomyr selected by Estonian state, both at the level of the residents and the governing bodies of the municipality. During the project, cooperation between the Estonian Association of Architects and organizations operating in the field of spatial planning in Ukraine, such as the Ro3kvit Urban Coalition, which promotes spatial issues at the local level, the Architects' Union of Ukraine (NSAU) and other partner organizations of the U-RE-HERIT project, will also be developed and promoted.
