Georgia, characterized by its multiethnic and multicultural composition, encompasses two regions, namely Samtkskhe Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli, which are notable densely populated by ethnic Armenians and Azeris. Within the educational landscape, approximately 300 public schools and sectors, alongside around 50 kindergartens are providing education in Armenian and Azeri languages respectively. These students are receiving education in their respective mother tongues, in addition to the certain hours dedicated to the subject: “Georgian as a second language”. Despite this, the proficiency of ethnic minority children in state language, Georgian, remains constrained. This limitation impedes their social integration and constrains their prospects for further educational advancements within vocational education and training (VET) as well as higher educational institutions.

Project objectives

The aim of the project is to support the provision of pre-primary education in Georgian pre-primary institutions with a large number of multilingual children.
