Reconstruction of an apartment building for internally displaced people in Ovruch town
Project objectives
Estonia is reconstructing an apartment building in Ukraine, which the city government has confirmed will be home to families who have been forced to evacuate from areas directly affected by the war, mainly eastern and southern Ukraine. The Municipality of Ovruch has sent information on the resettlement of more than 70 IDP families in the Ovruch region, mainly women and children, who are currently living in dormitories and other temporary accommodation, but who have no plans/possibility to move elsewhere. The need for housing is therefore urgent. During the implementation of the project, ESTDEV will have to verify the information on housing allocation policies and lists in order to avoid potentially problematic situations.
The IDP housing will be built as a cooperation project between Estonia and Ukraine, and the construction works must be completed within 275 days from the date of the contract, i.e. by July 2025 at the latest.
