Within the framework of the project, 11 weekly support groups will be created in different regions of Ukraine: in Kyiv (3 groups), Lviv (3 groups), Dnipro (2 groups), Zaporizhzhia (2 groups) and Sumska Oblast (1 group). Each group can accommodate 10 people at a time, and the participants do not always have to be the same. Group leaders are local professionals with appropriate education and qualifications. The direct beneficiaries are people living in Ukraine who need mental health support. There will be a total of 352 meetings and 43 supervisions for group leaders. In this way, it is possible to reach nearly 200 people in need of help.

Project objectives

The aim of the project is to provide psychosocial support to people who have lost a loved one as a result of war in the form of support groups, to provide them with a place where they can share their experiences and where they are helped to cope with loss and overcome trauma. Project has a positiive impact on the societal resilience and protection.

Actions and results

The activities will take place in several phases in different regions of Ukraine: in Kyiv (3 groups), Lviv (3 groups), Dnipro (2 groups), Zaporizhia (2 groups) and Sumy oblast (1 group).

Stage 1 - In September 2024, the focus will be on team formation, project contracting and a preparatory period including the gathering of the necessary resources and the preparation of an action plan.

Stage 2 - From October 2024 to May 2025, weekly two-hour group meetings (including coffee break) will take place, with a total of 11 groups. During this period, monthly supervision sessions for the therapy group leaders will also be organised to ensure the smooth running of activities and professional support. During the same period, we will work with local authorities and NGOs to bring people in need of support into the group. We will also use our database to announce support groups.

Stage 3 - In June 2025, a feedback survey and a service quality survey will be carried out to assess the benefits of the programme, measure the level of satisfaction of participants and identify possible areas for improvement in the quality and accessibility of services. The feedback will then be used to make the necessary adjustments and to draw up further action plans.
