ESTDEV Announces the Grant Winners for Education Projects in Moldova

The Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) has announced the winners of 2023 funding for the implementation of education projects in Moldova worth EUR 98,500.

The purpose of the call for proposals was to establish an open competition to incentivize the production of digital educational materials and the digitisation of school management. This initiative aims to increase the digital pedagogical capacity in Moldovan educational institutions.

“These funded projects contribute to the cooperation program between ESTDEV and the Future Technologies Activity (FTA) with the overall goal to support educational innovation and digital development in Moldova. Hackathons will be organised for enterprising and ambitious Moldovan youth, encouraging the creation of novel and creative digital solutions for the education sector,” said Lauri Luht, ESTDEV’s Regional Head for the EU Eastern Neighborhood countries.

A joint initiative by ESTDEV and Future Technologies Activity (FTA) is funded by USAID and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). It provides a high-level framework to advance Moldova’s digital development and entrepreneurship, as well as principles of cooperation for the years 2022-2026.

The Winning Projects

Garage48’s project involves hosting an immersive five-day event to foster ICT solutions for the Moldovan education sector. The event will hold workshops and mentoring sessions to help participants turn their respective ideas into high-quality prototypes that benefit the sector, with potential for further development after the event.

Triumf Research‘s project aims to promote technological educational innovations in Moldovan general education schools by focusing on the implementation of the ‘Triumfland Saga’ health game and a creative solution hackathon.

Estonian development cooperation support is aimed at fulfilling foreign policy goals. The organisation of the call for proposals and open calls as well as the target countries and goals, is agreed upon in the agreement between ESTDEV and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
